The Fraternal Order of the 505
The Fraternal Order of the 505 got its start on April 6th, 2010. A group of people were sitting around at a local watering hole in Visalia, CA listening to patrons talk about an upcoming community club initiation. It sounded fun, but some of us didn’t meet the criteria for membership. Many organizations require you to be a certain sex, religion or race to be a member. We decided to start our own club, an exclusive club for everyone. That’s our motto by the way. Lots of potential club names were thrown around, as you could imagine. We decided on 505 because it was the address of where the idea was conceptualized, and it sounded good.
Four years after the Visalia chapter was born a second chapter was started on April 23rd 2014 in Phoenix, AZ. The Phoenix chapter shares the same Mission Statement and commitment to their member identifying as a chosen few, representing all.
So what does the 505 do?
We organize social events for our members and participate in the occasional service project. Our mission statement says it best:
The Fraternal Order of the 505 is dedicated to providing a social outlet to good people from all walks of life. The 505 organizes social events where brothers and sisters can feel safe, carefree and welcome. We believe people who take time to relax are healthier, happier and a lot more fun, just sayin'.
